Friday I’m In Llama: Pao Gasol

Friday, June 11th, 2010

Being the Angelino I am (I was born and raised in Los Angeles), I’ve been following the NBA Finals pretty closely. I’m sure my neighbors are getting tired of hearing me yell things like, “Ahh! C’mon Kobe!!” and “REALLY? Really Ref?! That’s a foul?! and “Why do you keep leaving Ray Allen OPEN!!” I can’t help it. I’m passionate about the Lakers. With the Lakers in mind this week, I thought I would share the hilarious look alike I came across this morning. Yes, Pao Gasol does look like a llama. Ha!

Help Artist Tanya Aguiñiga

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

A couple of weeks back I posted about artist Tanya Aguiñiga’s wonderful project called Artists Helping Artisans (you can check out that post here.) Just to update, Tanya is nearing the finish line and has only one week left to raise money for her incredible project with artisans in Chiapas, Mexico. Tanya is so close to reaching her goal but won’t be able to get there without your help. Please help Tanya actualize this amazing project by visiting Project Site and making a donation. Any amount at all is greatly appreciated. ¡Gracias!

World Cup Posters

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

With World Cup 2010 only a couple of days away, I thought I would spend some time this morning checking some of the official World Cup posters from years past. I had no idea I was in for such a treat! Below you’ll find some of my favorites including this year’s official poster. I love how throw-back it is. It reminds me of the Patrice Lumumba Cuban propaganda poster released in 1970.

South Africa 2010

Argentina 1978

Mexico 1970

Switzerland 1954

Uruguay 1930

USA 1994

Click here to check out more of these fantastic World Cup Posters. I don’t know about the rest of you but I can’t wait for the first kick off on Friday!

Friday I’m In Llama: Emo Alpaca

Friday, June 4th, 2010

I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately (it happens, right?) In an effort to cope, I’ve been listening to a lot of Morrissey (I know, I know). There’s just  something about his angst that makes my own seem completely trivial. Anyhow, clicking through The Daily What earlier this week, I came across the perfect llama for this weeks Friday I’m In Llama. He definitely brightened my otherwise melancholy mood (cue Morrissey song).

Have a great weekend everyone!

Love this! Created by Richard Perez for Friends of Type. I would love to have a print of this by my door. What a lovely way to say goodbye.

Star Wars Loteria

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Cuban/Mexican graphic designer Chepo Peña recently created a series of Star Wars inspired Loteria Cards. I’m loving the creative fusion of two of Chepo’s childhood obsessions. What a clever idea! Check out some of my favorites below.
