Coffee With A Kick!

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

I recently shot this photo for a fun spread with a very cool online magazine. (More on that later). I’m not a photographer but I was quite pleased with how this turned out. You may be asking yourself, “what’s with the confetti?” Simple. This is no ordinary cup of coffee. Oh no! This is coffee with a kick! So why am I sharing this today? Well, if anyone out there has had the kind of morning I’ve had (the LAMA site was down for hours mid super sale!) I figured, we could all use some coffee with a kick today. I say, go ahead! Kick up your coffee and have a wonderful day! Enjoy the recipe below… you’re welcome.

Coffee with a Kick

- brew a pot of coffee

- add raw sugar and cinnamon for a sweet and spicy flavor

- like yours con leche? add some leche.

- Now here’s the kick.. Kahlua! How much? A solid kicks worth.

- Drink responsibly of course.

Colorful. Cultural. Dreamy. Magical. Brilliant. What else can I say?! I’m mesmerized by the work of Buenos Aires based Artist Paula Duró, a.k.a. Dori Duró.

On the Fashion Front: Ponchos!

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

When I was a little girl, my mother’s aunt from Ecuador knit me a pink poncho that I was completely smitten with. It had fringes and strings around the collar with little pink pom poms hanging off. It was gorgeous! I wore it constantly. I even used to tie it around my waist and wear it as a skirt when it was too hot to wear as a poncho. Yes, I invented boho-chic years before Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen were even born! (Unknowingly, of course). So, I’ve been super jazzed to see ponchos having a huge fashion presence this year. In my search for the perfect Fall sweaters, I keep coming across ponchos! You can be sure I’ll be sporting one this Fall/Winter. Check out some of my fashionable favorites.

Motivation Monday: Don’t Worry, Just Hustle

Monday, October 25th, 2010

I had a difficult time getting out of bed today. At first I thought it was just a case of the Mondays, until I realized it’s that I’m feeling totally overwhelmed. Hm, I’m better with pictures. I’m feeling a bit like this:

Like I’m jumping into oblivion. I think it’s just all of the changes I’m going through right now with life and LAMA. So I decided to just get up, grab some coffee, and face the day. Thanks to the LAMA clearance sale, I’ve got LOTS of orders to package! For me, the best way to get through uncertain times is just to keep going. Today, I’m just going to:

All I can do is get one thing done at a time. Here’s to another week!

Friday I’m In Llama: Feeling Like Fall

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

This morning I woke up to dark skies and rain. Looking at the forecast, it looks like it’s going to be a wet weekend. *sigh* Yes, Fall is definitely here. It’s time to pull out my sweaters and scarves from the back of the closet.

This week’s Friday I’m In Llama image is one of my favorite llama photos of all time. These contrasting colors are gorgeous and this beautiful white llama couldn’t look more cozy. It embodies everything I love about this time of year, warm and rich textures. It makes me want to cozy up in my favorite knit blanket and drink some MarieBelle Hot Chocolate (my favorite!).

Happy Friday! Have a cozy weekend.. and don’t forget to shop the LAMA SUPER SALE (while you’re favorite LAMA merchandise is still around).

David Gomez

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

David Gomez is a photographer and illustrator based in Barcelona, Spain. With a degree in fine fashion arts, David has taken his inspiration from indigenous tribes and mystic cultures to illustrate his own modern tribe based on the “street-fashion photography” he takes. David’s portraits are “full of personality with multi colored masks and geometrical patterns that make them unique and inimitable.” I couldn’t agree more. Not only I am a huge fan of David Gomez’s tribe, I would LOVE to be a member!

Check out more of David’s work here.

Cool Movie Posters in Español

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

I’m a bit busy with the HUGE LAMA clearance sale that’s going on right now, but I just had to share these outstanding movie posters I spotted last night. Based on films by Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar and Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón, I was completely taken by their simple and cool graphic design work. There seems to be a growing trend in the reinterpretation of movie posters happening these days, but I haven’t come across any for some of my favorite films in Spanish. I’m particularly fond of the Y Tu Mama Tambien poster. Probably because it’s one of my favorite films. Oh how I would LOVE to see a Motorcycle Diaries poster!

These film posters (along with lots of other great posters) can be found via Claudia Varosio’s Etsy shop.

Motivation Monday: Looking Toward the Future

Monday, October 18th, 2010

I’m feeling SO tired this morning. Atypically tired. Even for a Monday. You know me and Mondays.. they just don’t mix. Perhaps it’s because lately, I feel like this is all I do…

But, in the spirit of Motivation Monday, I going to keep on the bright side and remind myself that I’m working with a purpose and a goal in mind. And I know that…

Happy Monday everyone. Here’s to the beginning of another week!
