Lately I’ve been working on simplifying my personal life. Last week, I dumped out my closet and took five bags of clothes to the Goodwill, I cleaned out my office and threw out a large garbage bag full of unnecessary clutter, and I’ve attempted to spend more evenings away from the thirty-plus windows of information I have open on my computer to sit on the couch, listen to music, and read. Amazingly, I’ve been feeling a lot more calm and centered. Funny how that works. I’m not sure if it’s just a function of getting older (I’m just over a month away from turning 30!), but I’m starting to develop a true appreciation for the phrase “less is more.” That brings me to today’s Friday I’m In Llama. I completely adore this charming and uncomplicated llama illustration. It looks like one effortless scribble of a pen that magically turned into something amazing. To me it embodies a very important message that has been seeping into my life… simple is beautiful.
A big thank you to my blogging buddy Bekka Palmer who has a real knack for finding the best llamas out there (and sending them over to me). Happy Friday everyone! Have a simply beautiful weekend!
True story, I have watched this first episode of Llamas With Hats about twenty seven times. I laugh (hard) every time. I don’t have much to say other than watch and enjoy! Happy Friday I’m in Llama!
Alpacas. Yes, Alpacas.. not llamas.. but, they’re practically the same thing. Also, when they’re THIS AWESOME, I absolutely have to include them in Friday I’m In Llama. I give you (one of my favorite posts ever) alpacas with post punk hair!!
“Some guy I found on the Sartorialist.”
Liquid Liquid.
Echo and the Bunnymen.
The Chameleons.
Jesus and Mary Chain.
This one was added in the comments section.. Debbie Harry!
Be sure to check out Buzz Feed for the rest of this hilarious post. A big thank you to all of my sweet friends who sent this over to me. I love that you guys are always looking out for cool llamas. Happy Friday everyone.. and have the best Halloween ever! I’ll leave you with this spooky image of the Chihuahua pumpkin I carved the weekend before last.
I’m always so excited when my search for llamas leads me to work like Nick Meek’s. A successful British photographer with clients like Volkswagon, Heineken, and British Airways, Nick’s simple composition lends itself well to his humorous outlook on the world. I am in love with the colors and overexposed nature of his photography. Going through his portfolio was a pure delight and I highly recommend checking out his work. Of course, this little llama below with a pretty pink background was my favorite, but I had to include a few others as well.
Happy Friday!! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.. I’m carving pumpkins! Hooray!!
Yesterday I discovered Card Karma via my friend Ben’s google status message and I am SO excited about this awesome new site! One of my favorite things to do was send friends and family members cards I use to make with iCard. Then, Apple did away with iCards!! Ugh. So I started making my own on photoshop but it just wasn’t the same. Now, there’s Card Karma! What’s really cool about this site, aside from EVERYTHING, is that you can either upload your own images or use thousands of images via flickr. You have the option to post them on Facebook and Twitter, or you can keep them private and send a link through email. Keeping in mind Friday I’m In Llama, I decided to make some llama themed cards this morning. Enjoy!
Thanks Ben for always finding (and creating) the coolest things on the internet. A big HAPPY FRIDAY to everyone. Have a wonderful weekend and send someone a card.
Today’s Friday I’m In Llama comes courtesy of the SF Gate’s “Day In Pictures.” Have you ever seen a picture and thought, “I REALLY need to have a picture of myself doing exactly that!” That was precisely my thought when I saw the photo below. I’m a little camera shy so it could very well be the best pose for my new LAMA site bio pic. Or maybe I just think it would be fun to replace my head with a llama’s.
I also had to include this next photo. Not only does it have a lovely little llama (well, he’s actually an alpaca but close enough), but how cute is that dog?! A big part of my life revolves around dogs at the moment so it was funny for me to see these worlds collide in one adorable photo. Speaking of dogs, have you check me out over at Dog-Milk? I’m there every Wednesday!
Happy Friday everyone! This will be a working weekend for me but I can’t wait to show you all what’s been going on behind the scenes. If only I could fast forward a bit. *sigh*
Today I’m hanging out in New York city preparing to head off to Rhode Island for the wedding of one of my childhood friends. The past couple of days have been awesome hanging out in this incredible city (even though I was soaked in a torrential and unexpected downpour yesterday). I took the blogging day off yesterday to work along side my favorite graphic designer, Hijiri K Shepherd (and her dachshund Maia), on the redesign of the new LAMA site! We had a great time working together and we’re both excited about the new look LAMA will be taking on soon. Speaking of great people here in New York, today I’m off to Astoria to hang out with my favorite shop owners and contributor of this week’s Friday I’m In Llama!
Mackenzie Farquer, owner of SITE, was kind enough to send over these adorable llama illustrations by artist Migy. The llama above is Aymara and she is the main character in Migy’s latest book which is loosely based on the Northwest of Argentina. Cute! I need to find this book!
Thanks again Mackenzie! I can’t wait to visit you and your fabulous store this afternoon!!
Happy Friday everyone! I hope your weekend will be filled with as much fun and happiness as mine.
Recently I’ve been on the hunt for cute new products to fill the LAMA shop with. In my search I came across these adorable laptop cases by “diseƱadora estrella” (design star) Laura Mendanha, better known as Lala. Polka dots, stripes, and a charming llama illustration?! I’m kind of in love. What do you think? A new LAMA product? Let me know, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Sharon Montrose’s new animal print shop has been making it’s way across all of my favorite blogs recently. Naturally, I am a huge fan of her work. Who doesn’t love a beautiful animal photography?! I was especially excited about Sharon’s work after a blogging buddy of mine pointed out the Llama.
*Sigh* Gorgeous!! At only $25 for an 8.5″ x 11″ print, this would make the perfect gift for me! I mean, for someone. While you’re there buying me.. I mean, someone a gift, be sure to check out the rest of Sharon’s animals.
Also, be sure to check out the “on the wall” section of Sharon’s site. Her interior shots are stunning and really a treat all to themselves. The turquoise chairs in the photo below are just WOW.
Thanks again Ms. Bekka Palmer for pointing me in this wonderful direction. Lot’s of llama love to you and a BIG HAPPY FRIDAY to everyone else!
I always love when people send me Friday I’m In Llama suggestions! Especially when those suggestions are something I can buy and add to my growing collection of llama paraphernalia. This week’s amazing llama find was sent to me by not one but two lovely people.. Bekka Palmer and Ben Silbermann. The adorable llama below is part Areaware’s new collection of Animal Boxes by NY designer Karl Zahn.
There are a variety of adorable animals to choose from but of course, I’m partial to the llama. In fact, I’ve already ordered mine. This little wooden llama needed a home, my desk needed a wooden llama.. it was a win/win situation. Thanks again Bekka and Ben!! Happy Friday everyone! Have the best weekend ever!
*have a Friday I’m In Llama suggestion? Please send it to info@lamadesigns.com!! Gracias!
