A Vintage Home In Argentina

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

One of my favorite things about Argentina was the abundance of fantastic old furniture at the local flea markets and beyond. It seemed like just about every space I entered had incredible old furniture that I wanted to grab and somehow shove in my suitcase. The home of decorator and furniture vendor Marce is a gorgeous example of the type of vintage feel that is omnipresent throughout Buenos Aires. Her usage of a serene yet bold color palette against a variety of prints and patterns is incredibly well done. I just love everything about this happy home.

Traditional With A Twist: Casa Midy

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

I’ve been a long time fan and admirer of the work of Casa Midy founders Jorge Almanda and Anne-Marie Midy. Their objective of “combining contemporary design with traditional artisan methods of manufacture,” has created a large range of beautiful furniture and home accessory pieces. Beyond that, I love the interior design work they have done all over the world. Their work is a stunning example of  the evolution of traditional artisan work into the modern world. I hope to be able to visit their incredible showroom located in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico someday.

Jennifer Sanchez

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

I am over the top IN LOVE with artist Jennifer Sanchez’s work. Her usage of simple geometric shapes to create bold and complex images is incredible. What I love most about Jennifer’s work are the gorgeous colors palettes she uses. They are the kind of colors that inspire entire rooms! That is, if you love colorful spaces as much as I do.

In fact, the beautiful color palette above makes me think of this stunning bedroom by Pal and Smith that I discovered via the Ruby PR blog a while back. I’ve been dreaming of it ever since.

To check out more of Jennifer’s work, be sure to check out her website. Jennifer’s work is also available for purchase over at the Beholder (a favorite online art gallery of mine.)

Indie Fixx Guest Blog: From Argentina with Color

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Indie Fixx author Jen Wallace decided to take a little vacation from her computer and honored me with an invitation to be a guest blogger for her. Cool! Naturally I decided to combine two of my favorite things, South America and interior design, for today’s guest post. Head over to Indie Fixx to check out my post “From Argentina with Color,” which features a collection of colorful photos from the homes of Argentina’s coolest independent designers.

Be sure to stop by tomorrow (oops, by tomorrow I meant Wednesday) when I share more of my favorite photos from Casa Chaucha. Thanks again Jen! I had a great time blogging on Indie Fixx!
