Friday I’m In Llama: Sick Day

Friday, November 19th, 2010

I am one sick little llama lover today so I’m going to crawl back into bed and start my weekend early. I think I’ll put on my favorite sick day movie.. Super Bad. Somehow being sick morphs me into a fourteen year old boy. Anyhow, for those of you not feeling your best today (apparently this is going around), I thought today would be the perfect day to share these adorable llamas below. Why are their eyes so big?! They look like adorable anime characters. I feel better already, don’t you?

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend and stay healthy! Being sick is no fun.

Friday I’m In Llama: Simple is Beautiful

Friday, November 12th, 2010

Lately I’ve been working on simplifying my personal life. Last week, I dumped out my closet and took five bags of clothes to the Goodwill, I cleaned out my office and threw out a large garbage bag full of unnecessary clutter, and I’ve attempted to spend more evenings away from the thirty-plus windows of information I have open on my computer to sit on the couch, listen to music, and read. Amazingly, I’ve been feeling a lot more calm and centered. Funny how that works. I’m not sure if it’s just a function of getting older (I’m just over a month away from turning 30!), but I’m starting to develop a true appreciation for the phrase “less is more.” That brings me to today’s Friday I’m In Llama. I completely adore this charming and uncomplicated llama illustration. It looks like one effortless scribble of a pen that magically turned into something amazing. To me it embodies a very important message that has been seeping into my life… simple is beautiful.

A big thank you to my blogging buddy Bekka Palmer who has a real knack for finding the best llamas out there (and sending them over to me). Happy Friday everyone! Have a simply beautiful weekend!

Friday I’m In Llama: Nick Meek

Friday, October 15th, 2010

I’m always so excited when my search for llamas leads me to work like Nick Meek’s. A successful British photographer with clients like Volkswagon, Heineken, and British Airways, Nick’s simple composition lends itself well to his humorous outlook on the world. I am in love with the colors and overexposed nature of his photography. Going through his portfolio was a pure delight and I highly recommend checking out his work. Of course, this little llama below with a pretty pink background was my favorite, but I had to include a few others as well.

Happy Friday!! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.. I’m carving pumpkins! Hooray!!

Friday I’m In Llama: Day In Pictures

Friday, September 24th, 2010

Today’s Friday I’m In Llama comes courtesy of the SF Gate’s “Day In Pictures.” Have you ever seen a picture and thought, “I REALLY need to have a picture of myself doing exactly that!” That was precisely my thought when I saw the photo below. I’m a little camera shy so it could very well be the best pose for my new LAMA site bio pic. Or maybe I just think it would be fun to replace my head with a llama’s.

I also had to include this next photo. Not only does it have a lovely little llama (well, he’s actually an alpaca but close enough), but how cute is that dog?! A big part of my life revolves around dogs at the moment so it was funny for me to see these worlds collide in one adorable photo. Speaking of dogs, have you check me out over at Dog-Milk? I’m there every Wednesday!

Happy Friday everyone! This will be a working weekend for me but I can’t wait to show you all what’s been going on behind the scenes. If only I could fast forward a bit. *sigh*

Friday I’m In Llama: Migy

Friday, September 17th, 2010

Today I’m hanging out in New York city preparing to head off to Rhode Island for the wedding of one of my childhood friends. The past couple of days have been awesome hanging out in this incredible city (even though I was soaked in a torrential and unexpected downpour yesterday). I took the blogging day off yesterday to work along side my favorite graphic designer, Hijiri K Shepherd (and her dachshund Maia), on the redesign of the new LAMA site! We had a great time working together and we’re both excited about the new look LAMA will be taking on soon. Speaking of great people here in New York, today I’m off to Astoria to hang out with my favorite shop owners and contributor of this week’s Friday I’m In Llama!

Mackenzie Farquer, owner of SITE, was kind enough to send over these adorable llama illustrations by artist Migy. The llama above is Aymara and she is the main character in Migy’s latest book which is loosely based on the Northwest of Argentina. Cute! I need to find this book!

Thanks again Mackenzie! I can’t wait to visit you and your fabulous store this afternoon!!

Happy Friday everyone! I hope your weekend will be filled with as much fun and happiness as mine.

Friday I’m In Llama: Laura Mendanha

Friday, September 10th, 2010

Recently I’ve been on the hunt for cute new products to fill the LAMA shop with. In my search I came across these adorable laptop cases by “diseñadora estrella” (design star) Laura Mendanha, better known as Lala. Polka dots, stripes, and a charming llama illustration?! I’m kind of in love. What do you think? A new LAMA product? Let me know, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Happy Friday! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Friday I’m In Llama: Llama Dog Tees + Awesome Video

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

This has been a bit of a dog week for me so I decided to end the week by sharing a couple of ridiculous llama themed dog shirts I came across. The selection of llama dog tees over at cafe press was unusually large considering how random of an item a llama dog tee is. The two below are my favorites (and both were made in the USA in case you didn’t notice).

I’m giving a slight edge to “Save the Drama for Yo’ Llama.” Be sure to check out cafe press for all of your llama tee needs. Moving on to my favorite part of this Friday’s post, last night my fiance came across the incredible video below via his favorite blog The Awesomer (where you can find all things awesome). After we spent 10 minutes laughing hysterically, I knew I would have to share it here today. I bring you Dancing Merengue Dog, the hottest dog in Latin America! And yes, it’s AWESOME.

Friday I’m In Llama: Sharon Montrose

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Sharon Montrose’s new animal print shop has been making it’s way across all of my favorite blogs recently. Naturally, I am a huge fan of her work. Who doesn’t love a beautiful animal photography?! I was especially excited about Sharon’s work after a blogging buddy of mine pointed out the Llama.

*Sigh* Gorgeous!! At only $25 for an 8.5″ x 11″ print, this would make the perfect gift for me! I mean, for someone. While you’re there buying me.. I mean, someone a gift, be sure to check out the rest of Sharon’s animals.

Also, be sure to check out the “on the wall” section of Sharon’s site. Her interior shots are stunning and really a treat all to themselves. The turquoise chairs in the photo below are just WOW.

Thanks again Ms. Bekka Palmer for pointing me in this wonderful direction. Lot’s of llama love to you and a BIG HAPPY FRIDAY to everyone else!

Friday I’m In Llama: Stamps!

Friday, August 13th, 2010

I’ve been a little wedding obsessed since my engagement last week. I can’t help it. I love weddings! The thought of planning my own is beyond exciting. Being the detail oriented person I am, I’ve already started thinking about the stamps I’m going to use on my invitations. Through my investigation for the perfect stamps, I came across zazzle.com. Zazzle has a huge selection of stock image stamps and also allows you to customize your own. Always thinking about work, I decided to check out what llama stamps they had available. To my delight, they had some of the oddest llama themed stamps I’ve ever seen. Without further ado, here’s a little llama humor from me to you…

I’m a sucker for a great pun.

Oh, you didn’t know Mona Lisa owned llamas?

This one is just awesome.

Llamas would have made this painting a masterpiece.

There are so many things wrong with this. I’m going to start by calling the grammar police.

I love how majestic this one is. It makes me feel peaceful… *sigh*

Wow. I don’t even know what to say about this.

I kind of think I’m going to stick to the option to customize.

Happy happy Friday!!

Friday I’m In LOVE!!

Friday, August 6th, 2010

This has been a BIG week in my life. So big that it’s been nearly impossible for me to focus on anything else (forgive me for being so slow to answer emails). On Tuesday afternoon my wonderful boyfriend took me for a hike to our favorite spot here in the East Bay and he proposed! Eeek! I’m engaged!! I think my face has frozen into a permanent smile. Seriously, it kind of hurts. Oh well, I’m getting married!

My incredible fiancé (that’s the first time I’ve ever written that!) slipped the most beautiful ring I have ever seen onto my finger. It’s a vintage turn of the century victorian flower head ring. Knowing how much I love antiques, he thought this ring would be perfect. He certainly hit the nail on the head. Thank you Doyle & Doyle for having the most exquisite collection of antique engagement rings!

Not to forget my typical favorite Friday llama image, yesterday I was curious about llamas and weddings. After a quick Google search of “wedding llamas,” I found the most hysterical video of an English couple who had some surprise llama guests show up on their special day. Apparently the bride’s sister in law thought it would be a great idea to rent some llamas to celebrate the groom’s Peruvian heritage. According to the newscaster, the couple “Peruved” their love and will have “a future full of llama love.” Haha! (Friends and family, if you’re reading this, someone please bring some llamas to the wedding!!)

Happy, happy Friday!
