Lou Mora

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

It’s been one long and wet winter here in the Bay Area. At this point, it’s fair to say I’m over it. These beautiful images by Los Angeles based photographer Lou Mora have me dreaming of hot summer days. California style.

Egypt Part 1

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The recent news in Egypt has been difficult to watch/hear about. It’s been a series of highs and lows and victories and losses that has left an amazing country so rich with beauty and priceless treasures in the midst of uncertainty. My heart goes out to the people of Egypt in these troubling times. I was fortunate enough to spend some time in Egypt last year with my family. After fun times at Germany’s Oktoberfest, we headed off to Egypt for the most epic trip of our lives. I haven’t shared any of travel photos for some time so I thought, in honor of lovely Egypt, I would do a two part series of photos I took while I was there. This is how I want to remember Egypt forever!

Join me for Part 2 on Tuesday! All the best to Egypt.

David Gomez

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

David Gomez is a photographer and illustrator based in Barcelona, Spain. With a degree in fine fashion arts, David has taken his inspiration from indigenous tribes and mystic cultures to illustrate his own modern tribe based on the “street-fashion photography” he takes. David’s portraits are “full of personality with multi colored masks and geometrical patterns that make them unique and inimitable.” I couldn’t agree more. Not only I am a huge fan of David Gomez’s tribe, I would LOVE to be a member!

Check out more of David’s work here.

Friday I’m In Llama: Nick Meek

Friday, October 15th, 2010

I’m always so excited when my search for llamas leads me to work like Nick Meek’s. A successful British photographer with clients like Volkswagon, Heineken, and British Airways, Nick’s simple composition lends itself well to his humorous outlook on the world. I am in love with the colors and overexposed nature of his photography. Going through his portfolio was a pure delight and I highly recommend checking out his work. Of course, this little llama below with a pretty pink background was my favorite, but I had to include a few others as well.

Happy Friday!! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.. I’m carving pumpkins! Hooray!!

Pancho Tolchinsky

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Recently I discovered the work of  photographer Pancho Tolchinsky via sfgirlbybay. I was instantly smitten with his vibrant photography. Going through his portfolio of work was like stepping back in time. His images of home interiors from Medellin, Colombia reminded me so much of my abuelita’s (grandmother’s) home when I was a little girl. It was this mix of mid-century meets kitsch covered with religious paraphernalia that can only be achieved by Latin women of that generation. It’s a beautiful aesthetic that just can’t be replicated. Going through these photos really took me back to the six year old version of myself who used to love to explore my abuelita’s home, pick up every kitschy little object I could find, play on the pepto-pink rotary phone, and steal mexican market candy out of her cradenza. (of course, I was terrified by the virgin mary starring at me from every direction). What I wouldn’t give to be able to go back in time and photograph the little Los Angeles bungalow she used to live in! A huge thank you to Pancho Tolchinsky for capturing these nostalgic images. I highly recommend checking out the rest of Pancho’s images of this gorgeous design aesthetic that is becoming so rare.

Andrea Posada Part 1

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Andrea Posada is a multitalented Colombian artist who’s incredible technique can be seen in her illustrative work as well as her photography. Initially I was drawn to Andrea’s bright and imaginative illustration’s, but upon discovering her photography, I can’t decide which I love more! I don’t normally do this, but I absolutely have to post on both. First up is Andrea’s inspired photography shot across Mexico, Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela, Argentina, and Colombia. The colors and layouts of her shots are simply breathtaking.

Shots of Mexico by Jill Thomas

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

While looking for some wedding inspiration on photographer Jill Thomas’ website, I came across her collection of gorgeous photos she took on a recent trip to Mexico. Jill’s ability to capture moods through her wedding and lifestyle photography is nothing short of impressive. I love the sense of family, life, and love that come across so strongly in her Mexico series. It’s refreshing to see this take on small town Mexico. Enjoy the dreamy images below!

Originally from Buenos Aires and currently living in Seattle, Valeria’s photography is sweet, dreamy, and all around gorgeous. I was instantly smitten with her work while perusing around flickr last night. Currently Valeria is a stay at home mom with dreams of becoming a professional photographer. I hope she takes the plunge someday soon. Her photos just ooze with love! I can only imagine the types of photos she would capture as a wedding photographer.

Stunning! I highly recommend checking out the rest of Valeria’s photography here.

Friday I’m In Llama: Gemma Booth

Friday, May 21st, 2010

It’s a little late in the day but I didn’t want to head out for the weekend without posting this week’s Friday I’m In Llama. This week’s image was pointed out to me by my good friend Divya via Kate Daigneault’s beautiful photographic inspiration board on Pinterest. This photo entitled “fashion and llamas” (how great is that!) was taken by Gemma Booth who has quickly become one of my favorite photographers. I can’t stop looking at her website!

Happy Friday everyone! I can’t wait to post my “Pin It Forward” inspirations on Monday!

Riley of Roe

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I was recently introduced by the incredible Sara Jensen of Lost Bird Found to the most stunning blog belonging to Riley, an incredibly talented textile designer, ceramicist, and photographer. Roe is full of Riley’s gorgeous photography which has the most tactile quality to it. I just want to reach out and grab her work. I especially LOVE her gorgeous photography from Peru. It really takes me back to my own time in South America, walking around the Andes trying to snap shots of the gorgeous Alpaca. Oh, to be there again…
